My family became homeless about 3 weeks ago. Just trying to find a place for our family to stay each night has become a nightmare. Now my 12 yr old son will be starting school in a week and a half and I am unable to buy any school supplies, clothing, shoes, and he needs new glasses. Please any help would be greatly appriciated.

 Hello I am a mother of four beautiful children and we are on the verge of losing are home. As I sit here and type this we barley have food we have been eating bean, rice and bread these last past couple days. I have always worked but been gettin real sick these last couple months. I went to the emergency and they informed me i have crohns disease. I do not want to put my kids on the streets are the shelters. Please if someone can give me some info for corpus christi to help me catch up with my bills and food for this month I would greatly appreciate. I got school supplies for my babies from timmons and a couple pair of jeans. Now I just need shoes and school shirts, plus this months rent and we will be very thankful.

I know many parents are freaking out at the prospect of buying school supplies for their kids... believe me, I have been there, done that! And, no, I never received $200 per child for school supplies from the state.

But for those parents of kids entering high school, you may be surprised and shocked to learn that a $100 calculator is on your child's list of required supplies. The TI-183 (or similar version) manufactured by Texas Instruments is fast becoming a required item and at @ $100 a pop, this is ticking a lot of parents off.

While it may be required, by the teacher, most states require the SCHOOL to provide them for the student.

Charging Students for Calculators

The Department has recently received numerous questions regarding the charging of students for calculators.  School districts can require students to provide their own student “supplies.”  Supplies are defined as something which is consumed in use, loses its appearance and shape in use, is expendable, and is inexpensive.  Examples include pencils, pens, paper, etc.  Calculators do not fall into this category and must be considered like classroom teaching materials for which school districts are authorized to levy a tax.  The Department requires the use of calculators for intermediate and high school level mathematics and science assessments.  To the extent that calculators are a necessary part of the educational program, the school district must provide them.  Under no circumstances should students be charged for a calculator or otherwise required to purchase one in order to participate in an educational program.  School districts may purchase, and must still provide calculators, even if operating under a contingent budget if the calculators are required for participation in the educational program.

These include expenditures for general supplies; paper and other materials required for printing and copying; and books, periodicals, and reference materials.

Im a single mother of6 children unemployed and in need of financial assistance with paying my bills and also with school loths etc.I do the best i can for my children but right now im very nervous about my bills at home its like a stress on my brain that i cant let up its hard raising 6 children but im doing it i just really could use a helping hand right now.I done tried calling agencies 4 assistance never get threw.Im running out of time and options i could really use some guidance

Hi my name is DinorhaI am From Ivanhoe California,93235 its a small town were there is many hispanics like me living there trying to live day buy day to survive and just making enouph money to to pay our bills and to make it threw with our families,Let me tell you a little about my needs I have 5 little kids a 9yr old two 6 yr olds 3yr old 2yr old they are all dissabled in difrent ways and my husband is also dissabled he has a liver sourozes and he has Hepattitis C that is pretty advanced he is always sick and its hard for me because I hafto pretty much struggle on my own each and every day so our family can keep going the money we get aint enouph to pay tutors for my kids or to buy them things they would like to have they have wanted a computer but I cant afford it and they have so many doctor appointments that sometimes I cant find a ride to the doctor my mom has to come over everyday to take me to drop my kids off at school, plus in this home we live in has no heating or cooling are winter and summers are terrible for us plus we dont even have a kitchen sink or good flooring but theres no money and to purchase the necesary things we dont own the home we rent it my mom ownes it but she doesnt have money to put things into it as much as she wants too she doesnt have the money to help us she does good enouph buy renting us the home. she doesnt make a penny with us just enouph to pay her house payment there is many things we need to to do to better ourselves but everything takes time and pacients I have enrolled in college I am trying to get a courrier to better my kids life , and to stop strugaling I really want to buy them a house that will have everything for there needs and a vehicle well equiped for my kids to be safe seatbelts our important in a vehicle there has been times I have had to drive with out a licence when nobody could give me a ride a they loaned me there vehicle I have to pay the tickets know to be able to get a licence I am scared to drive thats why I look for drivers but when things cant wait or the emergency is there there is no choice because mothers love is mothers love a mother does anything for its child thats life can be in danger.I am going to try to reach my goal and become a first a medical assistant with a AS degree ,then continue my schooling till I am a Registered Nurse I want my batchlers, and masters in Nursing I want the knoledge in the medical field to help others and my kids when they are in crises they all suffer from seizures and mental problems anger management one has autism, one has a hemolytiv blood disease that we are sure of at this point the rest are getting checked they have artherithis, severe migraines ,asma, weak liver , that I have no exact information on yet. I try to teach them a normal life not to worry or stress to be kids but sometimes its hard for them because just a fever makes them weak Well I ask that if its possible you help me in what is in your hands to provide a computer and neccesary things to live a little better with my family We also need a vehicle but I dont know who to contact to help us with a vehicle And in your hands God Blessyou Thanckyou.

Hi I am looking for someone to help out with my utilities i just had my water shut off and in a few days my electric will be shut off, To tell you alittle about whats going on, I n the middle of june my wife fell and broke her leg at a youthgroup function,they did surgery and put a pin in her leg from her hip to her knee, I took a leave of absence from work to stay home and take care of her and our 5 children, not having any insurance we werent able to get the care that she needs, During my leave of absence I was laid off for the reason of a lack of work due to a reduced workload.   I have filed for unemployment benefits and I am still awiating responce for eligitably. I have been searching for work and not having much luck.

We have exhausted what funds we had on the bills and gas for taking my wife to her Dr. appointments and some of my work shearchs, and now are no longer able to keep up with all the remaining bills or get school clothes for the kids to start school with, we have recieved assistance with food so that is not an issue at this time. I know how hard it is when people need help and I have helped others in the past when i was able to do so as we have been there before and now in these unfortunate times are again.

I can't work due to health reasons and my husband can't pay all the bills and we still need school clothes and supplies for my son where can I go for help when I'm told that my house hold limit exceeds the limits?

I am the mother of two teenage boys in Maysville, Ky.  I was laid-off February 18, 2009.  Since the lay off we had to move into a house that I could afford on unemployment.  I found out last week that I have only two checks left and I may not qualify to get an extension.  I have had a few interviews but no call backs and I am terrified.  How am I to pay for a place to live and utilities.  School will be starting back soon and I have no money for supplies and new clothes, my oldest is wearing shoes with holes in them; with the unemployment it is not enough to pay the bills I have...I don't know what to do.  If anyone can help at all I would be most grateful.
